This year, UTOPiA is utilizing Sched as a way for UTOPiA attendees to know what’s going on, when, and where. It’s a great tool for staying organized, and I know that I will be utilizing it a lot come June 22nd when I fly out to Nashville. All of this month’s Official UTOPiA posts will show you some facet of Sched, but if you want to get ahead of the game feel free to check out last year’s Sched posts: Jo introduced you to Sched, telling you how to sign up for Sched and update your profile; Shana posted a great video on adding events to your Sched.
Today, I’m going to show you how to get Sched on your phone or other mobile device (for those of you who, like me, will be toting around a Kindle Fire). Don’t worry if the dates are different in the images to what they are in Sched. These images are from 2015, but you can do everything the same when it comes to linking Sched to your devices.
For all of you who own iPhones, Android phones, or Blackberries, accessing Sched couldn’t be easier.
On your phone, click on the cell phone icon on the right hand side of the page.
Click on the link it tells you to.
Save the page that it takes you to. Here’s what it looks like on a computer, if the page you’re looking at looks something like this, then you know you are at the right place.
This will be what you use to access your Sched on your phone. All of the things you’ve said you’re going to are marked with a check, just like they are on the main Sched page.
Similarly, to get your Sched onto iCal, you need to copy a link and put it into your Apple device. Just follow the directions on the Sched site.
Now if you’re like me, you don’t have one of these phones or devices (I have a not-so-smart smart phone, lol). That doesn’t mean you can’t carry your Sched with you. I’ll be hooking up my Sched to Outlook and Gmail, which will allow me to sync my Sched to my Google Calendar, the calendar app on my (Windows) phone, and the calendar app on my Kindle Fire.
I am going to walk you through connecting your Sched to these platforms.
Following Shana’s lead from last year, I decided to make a screencast for the Google walk through.
If you want to know how to integrate UTOPiA’s Sched with your Google Calendar, here’s what you need to do.
Now Outlook integration is slightly more complicated, but it’s not too bad.
First, click on the Outlook link.
Click Yes when prompted.
That will open Outlook. Click yes when prompted.
Your calendar now displays UTOPiA information.
Like with Google Calendar, clicking on a panel name will bring up more information about it.
You are now fully integrated into Outlook. Any devices you have that use Outlook calendars will be updated when you sync them. For me, that means my phone and Kindle Fire will have my UTOPiA Sched in it. That makes me one happy UTOPiAn.
Thank you for checking out my official UTOPiA blog post! I hope you found it helpful. Be sure to check out all of the official blogs throughout the month of May for more helpful Sched tips and tricks.
