Review Policy

Are you an author who would like me to review your book?

In theory, I’d love to!  Please note, I book about 8 weeks in advance depending on tour participation and earlier requests.  I will also be taking December and the first week of January off from scheduling requested reviews to accommodate family time during the holidays.

First, do you write what I read?

  • Fantasy
  • Science Fiction
  • Paranormal
  • Paranormal Romance
  • Dystopian
  • Historical Fiction
  • Contemporary Fiction

If you don’t see what you write here, please send me a short synopsis of the book, your book might just be what helps me to expand my literary horizons.  I skew towards the Young Adult and New Adult crowd, but if you are an author of books for an Adult audience I do occasionally make forays into those books, so try me.  It never hurts to ask, but please, no erotica or self-improvement books.

Second, I ask that you read a few of my existing reviews as well as how I describe my review process:

I’m not big into summarizing the books that I review.  Maybe I’ll throw in a question about how your reader would feel if he/she were the character experiencing this or that, but the point for me is to tell readers what’s great (or not) about a book so that they might want to read it (or not).  Anything resembling a summary will give away less than what the back of your book tells your potential reader.

I will tell you if I like the plot, how I feel about the characters, and if the setting is well described.  I’ll tell them if it sounds believable (and the best of fantasy books DO make their stories seem possible), and if I get a book hangover from reading it.  I will also tell readers what I don’t like about a book, but I believe that I am honest and fair.  I rarely truly dislike a book, and if I feel that I may be too harsh with my review, I will ask you to read over my review to let me know if you want me to post it.

In closing, I’ll keep it honest and I’ll keep it short.

After all, I don’t want to keep potential readers from reading your book for too long.

If my style sounds good to you, please drop me a line on my Suggest a Book page and let me know that you are the author.  I try my best to respond within 48 hours, but please note it might be the weekend directly after you send in your suggestions that I get back to you.

If you are able to supply a copy of your book (recently published, ARC, ebook, PDF), that would be appreciated but is not required at this time.
